Environmental object "Honorary Chair for Kārlis Grigulis"

On July 27, 2019, the environmental object "Honorary Chair for Kārlis Grigulis" was opened in Rembate Park in Lielvārde.

Kārlis Grigulis (1884–1972) – ornithologist and writer, author of children's literature. The initiator of the Bird Days tradition in Latvia. He worked at the School Museum, the Natural History Museum as a scientific associate. He supplemented his theoretical knowledge at the University of Latvia as a free listener by attending lectures on ornithology by Associate Professor Nikolajs Tranzē. Kārlis Grigulis' scientific and literary interests are related to bird life. He wrote popular science articles and descriptions, and at the encouragement of writer Elīna Zālīte in the 1950s he turned to fiction, in which he expressively revealed the relationship between nature and birds in descriptive books addressed to children.
